Mauritius faces a critical challenge – a small island economy with ambitious renewable energy targets, limited available land, and a growing electricity demand. Floating photovoltaic technology offers a transformative solution – deploying large-scale solar generation capacity on inland water bodies without consuming a single hectare of land.
Obluxe is developing two 30 MWp floating solar installations on La Nicolière and Mare aux Vacoas reservoirs delivering a combined 60 MWp of clean generation capacity that would represent one of the most significant renewable energy projects in the history of Mauritius.
Developed under the Central Electricity Board Renewable Energy Hybrid Facility framework, these projects will contribute directly to Mauritius’ target of achieving 60% renewable energy by 2035.​

Project Investment

The floating solar projects represent a unique investment opportunity in utility-scale renewable energy infrastructure in Mauritius.

Project Structure Both projects are being developed as independent Special Purpose Vehicles under the Obluxe Energy Infrastructure framework  allowing structured participation from institutional investors, development finance institutions, and sovereign wealth funds.

Development Finance Obluxe is actively engaged with the Development Bank of Mauritius green finance facility and international development finance institutions to structure competitive project financing.

Revenue Model Long-term Power Purchase Agreement with the Central Electricity Board – providing stable, predictable, inflation-linked revenue streams over a 20-25 year project life.

Carbon Credits Both projects qualify for carbon credit generation under international voluntary carbon market frameworks — providing an additional revenue stream alongside PPA income.
